Hallmark announces limited-edition Facebook gifts, created exclusively for Hallmark by Master Artist Bob Kolar, just in time to help friends and family count down the “12 Days of Christmas” in a fun, interactive way. Through Hallmark SocialCalendar, Hallmark is offering one of the virtual gifts each day, beginning December 11, 2009 until December 31, 2009.

“These, virtual gifts are an inexpensive, meaningful way to make a friend smile as they anticipate Christmas,” notes Maureen Dilger, Hallmark – product manager.

Each day, one of the virtual gifts will be unveiled through Hallmark SocialCalendar on Facebook. The limited-edition virtual gifts are a fresh take on the classic “days of Christmas.” The gifts can be combined with personalized messages and posted on a friend’s Facebook wall.

The Hallmark SocialCalendar Facebook application is made up of four products that can be purchased with Facebook credits:

  • Hallmark Wall Wishes: Short, animated posts that can be combined with a personalized message and posted on a friend’s Facebook “wall,” which is like a personal home page.
  • Articul8(TM) cards: A group of illustrated letters and icons that spell out a message — such as “BDayGirl” for birthdays — and can be posted to a friend’s Facebook wall.
  • Virtual gifts: Icons that can be sent to a friend’s Facebook wall. For example, holiday virtual gifts such as festive hoop&yoyo(TM) icons and a limited edition 12 Days of Christmas collection.
  • Calendar icons: Designs that can be used to decorate a personal Facebook SocialCalendar, for example, a birthday cake icon to place on friends’ birthdates.

These products make it easy for Facebook users to remember, celebrate, and acknowledge important events and occasions. Consumers may purchase any of the products using Facebook credits, which are sold by Facebook at a rate of 10 for $1.

“People look to Hallmark to help them share important moments with the people how matter most in their lives,” said Paul Barker, Vice President – Hallmark Digital. “Hallmark SocialCalendar is a great tool because it makes it so easy to remember birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays and acknowledge them when you’re online.”

Hallmark SocialCalendar, which launched in February 2008 as SocialCalendar, is a leading Facebook App with more than 15 million total users and over 2 million monthly active users. It is also one of ten applications accepting Facebook Credits. Facebook Credits are purchased by consumers at a rate of 10 for one dollar.

Hallmark SocialCalendar is a partnership between Hallmark Cards, Kansas City, and Newput Corporation, the Sunnyvale, Calif., developer of the SocialCalendar Facebook application, to create products and content that make it easy for people to remember and acknowledge events and occasions.
